Parish School of Religion

When he saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him.  He began to teach them, saying:  "Blessed are the poor in spirit,  for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

Matt 5:1-3

Every family has the duty to pass on the truth of our faith to the next generation.  The Parish School of Religion (PSR) mission is to assist parents in providing for their children, who attend public or other Christian schools, with Catholic religious instruction in a formal setting.

Our Mission Statement

The Parish School of Religion is an extension of the educational mission of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, which actively assists parents in the spiritual development

and faith formation of their children.  We are a ministry committed to providing an affirming context where children will learn and grow in love of God and one another through the teachings of Jesus Christ who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  We strive to teach, model, and promote the Gospel values so as to nurture a desire for all to achieve fullness of life

“For Heaven’s Sake."

Our Philosophy

Building and living a Catholic Faith Community,  proclaiming the message of the Gospel, motivating to service,  and leading to prayer are the prime, explicit goals of the Parish School of Religion of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. This involves not only our PSR environment but the parish and especially the home, wherein lies the prime duty of religious education.

Our Goals

To deepen our personal relationship with God through private prayer and other forms of prayer; this includes the memorization of the basic prayers of the Catholic faith.

To increase knowledge of Scripture as a way of life.

To involve parents in the religious education of their children.

To help the students respond to God by exhibiting kindness, concern and love for fellow human beings in their families, community and  throughout the world.

To help the students learn the fundamental doctrine, rites and
traditions of their Catholic faith and come to understand how they must serve God and grow in appreciation of His love.

To provide various prayer experiences for the students and, in
particular, the celebration of the Eucharist.
